As an ex-Londoner, the name alone brings back fond memories of hazy mornings and delicious breakfasts overlooking the bustling city. After conquering London and Edinburgh, Duck & Waffle has now made its mark in Dubai, setting up shop in DIFC’s Innovation One Tower. While DIFC’s restaurant scene is already thriving, this new addition has taken it up a notch.
Despite being a fan of the London outpost, I’ll admit that I was initially skeptical about the location. The DIFC version of Duck & Waffle is not as high up in the tower as its London counterpart, which was known for offering panoramic city views. However, it quickly became clear that the true magic of this restaurant isn’t in the view—it’s in the experience.
A Warm and Inviting Atmosphere
Upon entering the restaurant, it’s clear that Duck & Waffle Dubai has successfully replicated its welcoming ambiance. The golden lighting casts a warm, inviting glow throughout the space, making you feel immediately at home. The staff greets you with friendly smiles and an attention to detail that sets the tone for the rest of the meal.
The bar area is perfect for a pre-dinner cocktail, with a curated list of mixology options, including a variety of mocktails for those who prefer a non-alcoholic option. If you’re feeling adventurous, the drink menu offers unique concoctions sure to impress even the toughest critics.
As you walk further into the restaurant, you’re guided through an open kitchen where you can see the chefs preparing their dishes. The high ceilings and expansive space contribute to the elegant atmosphere, and the outdoor terrace—which mirrors the size of the interior—offers a wonderful place to enjoy the breeze. The terrace is dotted with greenery and pops of red fabric accents, giving it a cozy yet refined feel. The city skyline serves as a serene backdrop, far enough to maintain a tranquil atmosphere while still offering a touch of Dubai’s famed skyline.

The beef bacon-wrapped dates (Dhs 33) were a fantastic balance of sweet and savory, with the richness of the bacon complementing the natural sweetness of the dates. The spicy ox cheek doughnuts (Dhs 70) were another highlight, with tender ox cheek encased in a light, crispy doughnut—a bold combination that worked surprisingly well.
The real showstopper, however, was the foie gras crème brûlée (Dhs 92). This inventive take on the classic dessert was both indulgent and refined, with the richness of the foie gras perfectly countered by the sweetness of the crème brûlée. It was, without a doubt, one of the standout dishes of the night.
As for the main course, the signature Duck & Waffle dish was a must-try. This iconic dish lives up to the hype: crispy duck leg confit paired with a perfectly fried duck egg and mustard maple syrup. The flavor combinations were nothing short of extraordinary, making it easy to see why this dish has earned its place as the restaurant’s namesake. For vegetarians, a veggie version is also available, offering a plant-based alternative to the much-loved dish.
