Karen El-Khazen, who leases in Umm Suqeim for Dh300,000, has made a meditation room, a Bali-inspired restroom, and a ‘cuddle puddle.’
Interior designer Karen El-Khazen, the CEO of Karen K Sanctuaries, has undertaken a remarkable renovation project, turning her rented villa in Dubai into one of the city’s most whimsical homes. Here’s a glimpse into her extraordinary journey:
A Rented Villa Transformed
Situated in Umm Suqeim 3, Karen El-Khazen’s 14,000-square-foot four-bedroom villa is a testament to her creative vision.
The villa comes at an annual cost of Dh300,000, paid in four cheques over a five-year agreement.
A Creative Vision Unleashed
Since moving into the villa in 2021, the 37-year-old designer has left her unique mark on the property.
She has introduced a meditation room, a playful “cuddle puddle,” and a Bali-themed bathroom. But the journey doesn’t end there, with a “fashion library” and a “Garden of Eden” in the works.
From Blank Canvas to Whimsical Wonderland
Beyond her visionary interior designs, Karen El-Khazen has also taken on the role of a craftsman.
She has meticulously designed and created bespoke furniture, including a floating library and enchanted forest ceiling adornments.
The transformation extends to an eclectic boudoir and a games-themed kitchen, turning what was once a “blank canvas” into a captivating, one-of-a-kind space.
Karen El-Khazen’s unique approach to interior design has redefined the concept of a home, turning it into a sanctuary of creativity and self-expression in the heart of Dubai.
