Dubai’s RTA Unveils Ambitious 2024-2030 Strategic Plan

RTA has released its 2024-2030 strategic plan, which aligns with significant urban development efforts such as the Dubai Urban Plan 2040 and Dubai Plan 2030.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has disclosed its strategic plan for 2024-2030, aligning with key urban development initiatives such as the Dubai Urban Plan 2040 and Dubai Plan 2030. The plan also adheres to the directives of the UAE Government Vision ‘We the UAE 2031.’

Leadership’s Visionary Directives:

Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA highlighted the plan’s development in response to directives from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The focus is on advancing the city’s economy and enhancing the well-being of residents and visitors.

Integration of Soft Mobility and Technology:

The strategic plan emphasizes adopting integrated and soft mobility solutions, connected real-time mobility systems, and self-driving transport.

Dubai aims to become the first city globally to operate American Cruise self-driving vehicles outside the USA, utilizing self-driving Chevrolet Bolt autonomous electric vehicles.

Five Key Goals:

The plan centers around five key goals geared toward integrated and innovative mobility:

  1. 20-Minute City: Developing roads and transport systems to ensure 80% of daily services are accessible within a 20-minute journey by walking or cycling.
  2. Future Proof Organization: Attracting, retaining, and developing talents, meeting future demands, establishing effective partnerships, boosting R&D capabilities, and becoming a leading data-based entity.
  3. Sustainability: Implementing the ‘Zero-Emissions Public Transportation in Dubai 2050’ strategy, converting taxis, limousines, and public transport buses to electric and hydrogen vehicles by 2040 and 2050, respectively.
  4. Transportation Safety: Prioritizing safety, securing assets, corporate security, and enhancing occupational health.
  5. Customer Happiness: Developing capabilities to understand customer needs, proactively creating tailored innovative services, and guiding customer behavior for optimal benefits.

Vision for Sustainable Transportation:

RTA’s commitment to sustainability includes the ambitious target of pushing transportation on sustainable means to 42.5% by 2030.

This aligns to convert the entire public transport bus fleet into electric and hydrogen buses by 2050.

Comprehensive Customer-Centric Approach:

The plan’s objectives also focus on enhancing customer happiness through understanding needs, creating tailored services, and guiding customer behavior to maximize the benefits of transportation networks.
