Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has recently completed extensive construction works aimed at enhancing road infrastructure in four key locations: Margham, Lehbab, Al Lesaili, and Hatta. These improvements primarily focus on upgrading drainage systems, installing street lighting, and enhancing pavements to mitigate flooding risks and improve road safety.
The project, spanning a total of 35 kilometers, includes the construction of 18 kilometers of new roads and the installation of lighting poles along an additional 17 kilometers of existing streets.
Here’s a breakdown of the upgrades carried out in each area:
Margham:
- Extension of roads by 5 kilometers along the Dubai-Al Ain Road, near Skydive Dubai.
- Installation of pavements, rainwater drainage networks, and street lights.
- Benefiting over 1,100 residents in the area.
Lehbab:
- Extension of pavements by 4 kilometers and infrastructure enhancements for rainwater drainage and street lighting.
- Lighting works on existing streets extended by 2 kilometers at the Dubai-Hatta Road beside Lehbab Camels’ Racetrack.
- Serving more than 3,000 residents.
Al Lesaili:
- Street lighting installations on existing roads at Saih Assalam near the Last Exit and Al Qudra Lakes, covering a distance of 7 kilometers.
- Catering to approximately 2,900 residents.
Hatta:
- Construction of a 2-kilometer-long road stretch at Suhaila in Hatta, alongside infrastructure improvements for rainwater drainage and street lighting.
- Benefiting around 6,000 residents.
Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the RTA, emphasized the authority’s commitment to enhancing road infrastructure to ensure the safety and convenience of residents. This initiative comes in response to recent heavy rainfall experienced across the UAE, highlighting the importance of robust drainage systems and road infrastructure to manage adverse weather conditions effectively.
With the completion of these projects, Dubai’s RTA aims to enhance road connectivity, improve safety standards, and contribute to the overall development and well-being of the communities it serves.
