Dubai’s Parking Fees Set to Increase in 2025: What Residents Need to Know

Dubai

Dubai is gearing up for significant changes in its parking fee structure, aiming to enhance traffic flow and manage congestion in high-demand areas. Starting March 2025, Parkin PJSC, the city’s primary operator of paid public parking facilities, will implement a Variable Parking Tariff Policy. This policy introduces higher fees during peak hours and designates certain areas as premium parking zones.

Key Changes in Parking Fees

Under the new policy, parking fees will vary based on location and time:

  • Premium Parking Spaces: Strategically located near public transportation hubs, central business districts, and major shopping destinations, these spaces will cost Dh6 per hour during peak hours (8 am to 10 am and 4 pm to 8 pm). During off-peak hours (10 am to 4 pm and 8 pm to 10 pm), the fee remains at Dh4 per hour. Parking is free overnight from 10 pm to 8 am and all day on Sundays.
  • Standard Parking Spaces: In other public paid parking areas, the fee is set at Dh4 per hour during peak hours, with no change during off-peak times. The same free parking periods apply as in premium zones.

These adjustments aim to optimize parking availability in congested areas and encourage the use of public transportation. Eng. Mohamed Abdulla Al Ali, CEO of Parkin, noted that premium parking locations were selected based on proximity to metro stations, high occupancy during peak periods, and density of commercial activities.

Introduction of Congestion Pricing

In addition to the variable tariff policy, a Congestion Pricing Policy will be introduced around major event zones. Starting February 2025, during significant events at venues like the Dubai World Trade Centre, parking fees in nearby areas will be set at Dh25 per hour. This measure aims to manage the temporary surge in parking demand during large gatherings.

Variable Salik Toll Rates

Complementing the parking fee adjustments, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will implement Variable Road Toll Pricing (Salik) starting at the end of January 2025.

  • Weekdays:
    • Peak Hours (6 am to 10 am and 4 pm to 8 pm): Dh6
    • Off-Peak Hours (10 am to 4 pm and 8 pm to 1 am): Dh4
    • Overnight (1 am to 6 am): Free
  • Sundays:
    • All Day: Dh4
    • Overnight (1 am to 6 am): Free

These dynamic toll rates are designed to distribute traffic more evenly throughout the day and encourage travel during off-peak hours.

Impact on Residents and Commuters

The introduction of variable parking fees and toll rates reflects Dubai’s commitment to managing its rapid growth and the accompanying challenges. As the city continues to expand, residents have expressed concerns about rising living costs and increased traffic congestion. The new policies aim to alleviate some of these issues by promoting efficient use of parking spaces and encouraging public transportation.

Motorists are encouraged to plan their commutes accordingly, considering the new fee structures to optimize travel times and costs. The RTA and Parkin PJSC will provide detailed information on affected zones and updated tariffs through official channels, including websites and mobile applications.

As Dubai implements these changes, the city aims to balance its dynamic growth with sustainable urban planning, ensuring a high quality of life for all residents. @rta_dubai
