Dubai’s Gov Games is gearing up for its fifth edition with an exciting addition – student teams will be competing for the first time. Set to kick off at Dubai Festival City, this mega sporting event promises to be bigger and more inclusive than ever before. With 194 teams confirmed to participate, including representatives from government and private institutions across the UAE, anticipation is high for an action-packed competition.

The Gov Games, held under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council, is not just about sports; it’s about fostering team spirit, personal development, and community engagement. Marwan bin Eisa, director of Gov Games, emphasized the significance of this event, stating, “The idea of Gov Games is team building and personal development.”

One of the most exciting aspects of this year’s Gov Games is the introduction of the Junior Gov Games category, catering to students aged 10-13. This addition reflects the organizers’ commitment to nurturing the holistic development of the younger generation and enriching Dubai’s cultural and sporting landscape.

The tournament will feature various categories, including the Battle of the Government, Battle of the Community, and Battle of the Cities. With 84 male and 26 female teams competing in the Battle of the Government, 28 teams in the Battle of the Community, and 28 global city teams facing off in the Battle of the Cities, there’s no shortage of excitement and competition.

Prizes are also up for grabs, with the top adult teams vying for a grand prize of Dh500,000. Second and third place winners will receive Dh250,000 and Dh150,000 respectively, providing ample motivation for teams to give it their all. In the Junior Gov Games category, the winning team will take home Dh70,000, with second and third place winners receiving Dh56,000 and Dh35,000 respectively.

The event is supported by a roster of esteemed partners and sponsors, including DP World, Dubai Sports Council, Emarat, Damac Properties, Emirates Post Group, Dewa, First Abu Dhabi Bank, and more. Their involvement underscores the significance of Gov Games in Dubai’s sporting calendar and highlights the community’s enthusiasm for such events.
