Several residents reported disturbances in their neighborhoods caused by raucous motorcycle riders, prompting the Dubai Police to seize several quad bikes. 

Following an investigation, it was revealed that a group of children was responsible for the chaos.

Illegal Use and Confiscation:

Maj-General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Director of the General Department of Traffic at the Dubai Police, highlighted the illegal use of recreational motorcycles on paved roads as a violation of the law. Patrols tracked the offenders to their homes, leading to the confiscation of their quad bikes.

Penalties for Off-Road Bikes on Paved Roads:

Quad bikes should not be used on paved roads, emphasized Maj-Gen Al Mazrouei, citing Decree No. 30 of 2023. 

The law mandates a penalty of Dh50,000 for motorcyclists using off-road bikes on paved roads, further underscoring the seriousness of the violation.

The Dubai Police warned parents, cautioning against allowing their children to take recreational motorcycles onto roads. 

Maj-Gen Al Mazrouei emphasized the potential for accidents and stated that parents would be held responsible for failing to supervise their children.

Community Reporting for Road Safety:

Highlighting the need for community involvement, the officer urged individuals to report such violations through the ‘Police Eye’ service on the Dubai Police App or by calling the ‘We Are All Police’ hotline at 901. 

Tighter monitoring of these reckless practices is crucial for boosting road safety in the emirate.
