Dubai Municipality Launches Innovative Agricultural Beautification Project at Al Meydan and Al Khail Intersection

Dubai Municipality embarks on a groundbreaking agricultural beautification endeavor at the junction of Al Meydan and Al Khail Streets, reaffirming its commitment to enhancing green spaces across the city. Covering an extensive area of 302,266 square meters, this project aims to elevate Dubai’s aesthetic appeal while promoting environmental sustainability.

The initiative incorporates state-of-the-art technologies to implement sustainable irrigation and drainage systems. Fully automated irrigation mechanisms and wind-resistant spraying techniques ensure efficient water usage, resulting in a 30% reduction in water consumption. The Municipality’s efforts in groundwater and rainwater drainage, coupled with the establishment of a pumping station and storage tank, further enhance the project’s sustainability.

H.E. Dawoud Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality, underscores the significance of agricultural beautification in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The project aligns with Dubai’s strategic objectives to position itself as a premier global city for living, emphasizing the importance of expanding green spaces to enhance residents’ quality of life.

The intersection’s design, inspired by horse hoof prints, integrates elements of wild nature with carefully selected ornamental plants, creating a unique artistic landscape. Notably, Dubai Municipality introduces ‘Chorisia’ trees for the first time, enriching the area with their distinctive features and vibrant pink-red flowers.

Dubai Municipality’s commitment to environmental sustainability is evident through its extensive tree planting initiatives, with over 185 thousand trees planted in 2023 alone. This achievement, a part of the Green Dubai initiative, underscores the Municipality’s dedication to afforestation and enhancing green areas, ensuring a greener and more sustainable future for Dubai
