Dubai Launches Innovative ‘Retiree Projects Support’ Program Under Social Agenda 33

Empowering Retirees and Enhancing Quality of Life in Dubai

Dubai has taken a significant step in enhancing the well-being and financial stability of its senior citizens with the launch of the ‘Dubai Retiree Projects Support’ program. This initiative, part of the Dubai Social Agenda 33 and unveiled by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aims to empower Emirati retirees by providing them with numerous benefits and opportunities for continued contribution to society.

A Collaborative Effort for Retiree Empowerment The program, a collaboration between Dubai Police General Command and the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism represented by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Small and Medium Enterprises (Dubai SME), offers a comprehensive package of benefits for retirees. It includes priority in government project assignments, financial support for future projects, exemption from service fees for five years, and consultation support. This memorandum of understanding reflects the commitment of Dubai’s leadership to ensure the mental, social, and financial stability of its retired and soon-to-be-retired citizens.

Fostering an Active and Proactive Social System Aligned with the objectives of the Dubai Social Agenda 33, this initiative seeks to create a more active and proactive social system. It emphasizes protection and empowerment, ensuring equal opportunities and social welfare for all community segments, and mitigating economic and social risks. Operating under the Higher Committee for Development and Citizens Affairs, the program aims to turn Dubai into a hub for SMEs and support projects launched by retirees.

Investing in Expertise and Experience The program targets existing retirees and employees nearing retirement, recognizing the invaluable expertise they offer. It plans to utilize this expertise in supporting Dubai’s development, with additional job opportunities and engagement in SMEs. This approach not only enhances the financial stability of the retirees but also leverages their capabilities for Dubai’s growth.

Sustainable Giving and a Leading Role in Development His Excellency Lt. General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, emphasized the program’s alignment with Sheikh Mohammed’s vision, focusing on improving citizens’ quality of life and family stability. His Excellency Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director General of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, highlighted the role of this program in turning retirees’ expertise into investment opportunities, thus contributing to Dubai’s economic sustainability and diversification.

Facilitating Business and Ensuring Stability The program offers a comprehensive support system, including a database to monitor the expertise of retirees, consultations for life planning, collaboration with private sector companies, and exemption from service fees. These measures aim to facilitate business processes and alleviate the financial burden on retirees, encouraging their active participation in the SME sector.

Conclusion: A Model for Social and Economic Integration The ‘Dubai Retiree Projects Support’ program is a pioneering initiative in the region, setting a model for how societies can integrate their senior citizens into the economic fabric. It reflects Dubai’s commitment to social solidarity and national development, ensuring a happier, more productive retirement for its citizens.
