From the animated worlds that captivated her childhood to her professional journey as a versatile artist, Allaa Kammel’s path to becoming a renowned designer is one rooted in creativity, passion, and an ever-evolving desire to push the boundaries of her craft. Allaa’s story is a testament to how a deep fascination with art can shape not only a career but also inspire generations to follow their creative dreams.
The Spark of Creativity
As a child, Allaa was drawn to the world of cartoons, but her curiosity went beyond simply watching them. this way shapes moved, how colors blended together, and the logos that branded beloved characters. She often wondered about the artists behind these creations, igniting a passion for design. This early fascination led her to realize that creativity could be more than just entertainment; it could be a tool to communicate ideas and emotions, a realization that would define her future.
A Journey of Self-Discovery and Education
Despite an early interest in creativity, Allaa’s path was not always clear. She knew she didn’t want a conventional job focused solely on numbers or words. Instead, she sought a career where she could express herself through her hands. The turning point came when she discovered the major in Applied Sciences and Arts, which offered the perfect blend of design history, hands-on work, and creative expression. This field became a sanctuary for Allaa, allowing her to channel her artistic passion into tangible and impactful projects. She quickly realized that this was the right fit for her aspirations, as it empowered her to build and innovate in ways she had never imagined.
A Dream Come True: Working for Spacetoon
One of Allaa’s most significant professional milestones came when she landed a job with Spacetoon, the beloved cartoon channel that had once shaped her childhood. The opportunity to design posters for iconic characters and even create entire animated worlds for the channel was surreal. It felt like a dream come true, as she had gone from watching the cartoons to being a part of the creative process. This experience reinforced the power of following one’s passions and how creativity can turn childhood dreams into a reality. For Allaa, this achievement was not just a professional success but a deeply personal one.
A Career Built on Adaptability and Growth
Allaa’s career began with an internship at Scoop Empire, one of the biggest digital journals in the Middle East. At the same time, she was freelancing for international clients, honing her skills and building a solid foundation. However, her career truly took off when she began working with award-winning architecture firms in Egypt, where she took on various roles—content creator, graphic designer, video editor, and even animator. Her willingness to embrace new challenges, even when they took her out of her comfort zone, transformed her into a multidisciplinary artist. This adaptability accelerated her growth and opened new opportunities in areas she had never initially considered.
The Power of Leadership and Innovation
Today, Allaa is thriving as a full-time Art Director for a leading events company in Saudi Arabia. In this role, she is not only refining her creative skills but also learning valuable managerial techniques, something she didn’t have the chance to explore in her earlier career. Working in Saudi Arabia, a country rapidly evolving with a bold vision for the future, has given Allaa the opportunity to immerse herself in a rich cultural heritage while contributing to the country’s growing creative industry. This position pushes her to grow both as a leader and as a creative professional, proving that stepping into unfamiliar territory often leads to the greatest personal and professional growth.

Mentorship and Support: The Role of Sally Skeret
A key influence on Allaa’s career has been her bachelor professor, Sally Skeret. Throughout her university years, Sally not only shared her expertise in design but also demonstrated an incredible level of empathy and support for her students. Her guidance was particularly crucial during the COVID-19 lockdown, when Allaa faced creative challenges. Under her mentorship, she was able to complete her graduation project, which was selected to be exhibited at the Global Grad Show in Dubai in 2020. This milestone marked a significant achievement in Allaa’s career, and she credits her success to her unwavering support and encouragement.
Maintaining Balance and Overcoming Challenges
Like many creative professionals, Allaa has faced numerous challenges throughout her career. One of the most significant hurdles she has encountered is setting boundaries, particularly with clients and within her own company. The expectation that designers should be available around the clock can lead to burnout, and Allaa has learned the importance of maintaining a work-life balance. By setting clear boundaries, she has been able to stay focused, productive, and, most importantly, maintain her well-being.
An unexpected lesson Allaa has learned is the importance of not following design trends too closely. While trends can be tempting, they often change quickly, and creating designs based solely on trends can lead to rebranding sooner than expected. Instead, Allaa focuses on creating timeless designs that align with the long-term vision of her clients. This approach has helped her create work that stands the test of time while still feeling fresh and relevant.
Redefining Success
In her earlier years, Allaa believed that success meant working for well-known companies in the industry. However, over time, she has learned that true success lies not in seeking external validation, but in the quality and impact of her work. Today, Allaa measures her success by the satisfaction and feedback of her clients. Knowing that she has made a positive impact through her designs is what truly fulfills her.
Advice to Her Younger Self
If she could go back in time, Allaa would tell her younger self to embrace the journey rather than rush toward the destination. She acknowledges that in her early years, she was often focused on the future and felt pressured to have everything figured out. Looking back, she now understands that the growth and lessons learned along the way are what truly shape success. She encourages others to savor the process, as it is in the journey that one finds the greatest rewards.
A Legacy of Creative Innovation
Looking to the future, Allaa hopes to be remembered as a designer who did it all. From art and graphic design to animation, UI/UX, editing, and even editorial makeup for photoshoots, Allaa has explored every facet of the creative industry. She hopes that future generations will see her work and believe that they, too, can pursue any path they desire. Her message is clear: the sky is the limit, and with determination and an open mind, anything is possible.
Allaa Kammel’s career is a shining example of how passion, creativity, and adaptability can lead to extraordinary success. From a childhood fascination with cartoons to becoming an influential designer and art director, Allaa continues to inspire others to follow their creative instincts and push beyond their limits.
