Abu Dhabi, UAE: The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi recently disclosed statistics revealing that healthcare facilities in the Emirate conducted more than 30,000 births during the year 2023. Representing a significant milestone in maternal and child healthcare, these births underscore Abu Dhabi’s commitment to providing top-quality maternity services to its residents.
Natural births accounted for an overwhelming 94%, while 6% utilized assisted reproductive technology methods available in the emirate, reflecting the diverse range of options accessible to expectant parents.
Over 2,500 specialists are dedicated to ensuring the highest standards of quality in maternity and childbirth services, working diligently within the healthcare sector. This includes 642 specialists and consultants in obstetrics and gynaecology, supported by 383 midwives and 39 resident assistants.
The expertise extends across various fields, encompassing maternal-foetal medicine (MFM), reproductive medicine and infertility, anaesthesia, critical care, radiology, ultrasonography, and embryology, ensuring comprehensive care for expectant mothers and their babies.
Abu Dhabi has emerged as a leader in assisted reproductive medical services, boasting a remarkable 42% success rate in In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) procedures, one of the highest in the world. Over 4,800 couples received IVF and other fertility treatments in 2022 alone, highlighting the emirate’s advanced capabilities in this domain.
The Emirate offers a wide range of treatments, including egg storage, fertilisation, embryo transplantation, and more, catering to the diverse needs of couples seeking fertility assistance.
With 12 licensed healthcare facilities providing assisted reproductive services, Abu Dhabi has become a sought-after destination for individuals across the region seeking such services.
