Emirati couple injured in Prague shooting undergo surgery

The Incident

During a winter holiday in Prague, an Emirati couple, Ahmed Ibrahim Obaid Ali Al Ali and Rowdah Al Mehrezi, faced a harrowing ordeal when a gunman opened fire at Charles University. 

The couple, accompanied by their two daughters, Maryam and Latifa, were among the victims of this tragic mass shooting.

Injuries and Surgeries

Both Mr. Al Ali and Ms. Al Mehrezi sustained severe injuries, necessitating major surgeries. Mr. Al Ali underwent two surgeries to remove bullets lodged in his shoulder and collarbone. 

Meanwhile, Ms. Al Mehrezi had a successful surgery to remove a bullet close to her heart. Fortunately, their daughters escaped physical harm.

Support from Emirati Leaders

Dubai’s Crown Prince, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, personally contacted the couple, expressing support and emphasizing the importance of their complete recovery and return home. 

Additionally, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Minister of Foreign Affairs, extended gratitude to the Czech Republic for their medical care and condemned the attack. He also wished a speedy recovery to all injured victims.

National Solidarity and Support

Emirati officials, including Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, demonstrated solidarity by reaching out to offer support to the injured couple during this challenging time.

The collective concern and support from Emirati leaders underscore the nation’s unity and solidarity with its citizens. Wishing the injured couple a swift recovery and healing, and hoping for strength and solace for all affected by this tragic incident.
