Others are not as fortunate. Shaneer Gawaiman, a Deira-based businessman, was planning to take his family on an Umrah trip. However, he has decided to postpone the pilgrimage due to the soaring costs. “The prices have gone up too much. We were planning to go during the last ten days of Ramadan, but now I’ll wait until after Eid,” he said. Gawaiman explained that he had hoped to travel with his parents, but the financial burden of booking multiple tickets for his family made the trip unfeasible.

It’s not ideal, especially for elderly or young travelers, but it’s a more affordable option for many people,” Perwad explained.
Another viable option is to opt for organized Umrah bus packages, which include transportation, accommodation, and visa fees. These packages are currently priced at around AED 1,200 for a 10-day journey, making them a more cost-effective alternative for budget-conscious pilgrims.
Despite the alternative routes, travel agents are urging pilgrims to act quickly and book their tickets well in advance. With demand continuing to rise in the lead-up to Ramadan, last-minute bookings are becoming increasingly expensive, and availability is limited.
