A small but mighty UAE-based startup is making big waves in the world of green technology. SolarTrack, a company that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to improve the performance of solar panels, has just been crowned a winner at the prestigious Berlin Green Summit 2025. This international recognition marks a major milestone for the startup and places the UAE on the global green innovation map.
The Berlin Green Summit is one of the world’s leading events dedicated to sustainable and eco-friendly technologies. Every year, it brings together the best and brightest ideas that are changing the future of our planet. In 2025, over 300 companies from more than 60 countries competed for the highly sought-after Global Green Tech Award. And against all odds, SolarTrack emerged as one of the biggest winners.
What Is SolarTrack?
Founded just four years ago in Abu Dhabi, SolarTrack focuses on one mission — to make solar energy smarter. The company has developed a smart, AI-powered platform that helps solar panels capture more sunlight and work more efficiently. It does this by automatically adjusting the panels’ angles and positioning in real-time, based on weather conditions, time of day, and sunlight patterns.

The technology is designed to cut down energy waste, improve solar output, and reduce costs for users. This is especially useful in regions like the Middle East, where sunlight is strong but often underused in clean energy efforts.
According to the startup’s co-founder, Rania Al Maktoum, the inspiration came from the UAE’s growing push for sustainable energy solutions. “We knew the potential of solar energy in this region was massive, but the technology needed to catch up. That’s where SolarTrack comes in — we wanted to bridge the gap with smart systems,” she said after receiving the award.
A Big Win for UAE’s Green Vision

SolarTrack’s achievement is more than just a trophy — it’s a symbol of what’s possible in the UAE’s clean energy journey. The UAE has been investing heavily in sustainability, with major solar parks, green cities, and net-zero goals already in place. But winning a major international prize like this shows that home-grown ideas are gaining respect on the world stage.
The team from SolarTrack presented their work at the summit to a panel of judges that included scientists, investors, and environmental leaders. What stood out the most was how their platform combined technology and environmental impact so seamlessly. The system is already being tested in solar farms across the UAE, with early results showing a 20–25% increase in efficiency compared to traditional fixed solar panels.
Even more impressive is the fact that their solution is easy to install and affordable, making it ideal for both large-scale solar farms and individual households. The judges highlighted the startup’s ability to make green energy more accessible — one of the biggest challenges in the clean tech world.
Youth-Led Innovation with Global Reach
One of the reasons this win feels so special is because SolarTrack is a young, local startup built by a team of under-35 engineers and tech minds. The team includes graduates from UAE University, Khalifa University, and several international research programs. With only a small office and a handful of staff members, they managed to compete against big companies from the US, Germany, and Japan.
This achievement sends a powerful message to young innovators in the UAE and the region: big ideas can come from anywhere. Speaking at the summit, co-founder Omar Haddad said, “We weren’t sure if we could compete at this level, but we believed in our idea and our mission. Winning this award tells us that the world is listening.”
Now, the startup has already received interest from several international investors and clean tech partners who want to scale the technology globally. Talks are underway for pilot projects in Europe, Southeast Asia, and parts of Africa.
What’s Next for SolarTrack?
Winning the award is just the beginning. SolarTrack plans to expand its operations within the UAE and the wider Gulf region. The startup is also looking to open its first research and development centre in Dubai by the end of 2025. There, they’ll work on next-gen solar tracking systems and explore how AI can help predict and prevent energy losses even before they happen.
In addition, the team hopes to collaborate with schools and universities to train young people in clean energy skills. “We want to create a green tech hub right here in the UAE,” said Rania. “It’s not just about one startup — it’s about building a movement.”

They’re also working closely with government departments and clean energy organisations to ensure that their technology can support the UAE’s long-term energy goals. With Expo City Dubai continuing its push for innovation, and COP28’s momentum still fresh, SolarTrack’s timing couldn’t be better.
A Proud Moment for the UAE
The UAE has always aimed to be a leader in clean energy, but moments like this show that the country’s vision is becoming reality. SolarTrack’s success is not just a win for the company but also a proud moment for every person in the country who supports sustainable innovation.
As the world faces climate change and energy challenges, smart solutions like SolarTrack’s offer hope — and they’re coming straight from the heart of the UAE.
