LinkedIn members in the UAE will now have the option to verify their identity information through Persona, an identity platform integrated into the professional network.
This move aligns with LinkedIn’s ambition to achieve 100 million verified members globally by 2025.
Visible Verification Badges and e-Passport Validation:
Using an e-passport, professionals, and employees can opt to undergo identity verification. Once verified, they can display a visible verification badge on their profiles at no cost.
The verification process involves providing a photo of a valid NFC-enabled passport issued to the individual.
Optional and Removable Verification:
Adding identity verification is optional and can be removed by the members at any time. The verification badge, once added, may display the country that issued the passport on the individual’s LinkedIn profile.

The process of adding identity verification involves several steps:
- Use of NFC-enabled passport for verification through Persona
- Verification criteria such as name matching between passport and LinkedIn profile
- Accessing verification through LinkedIn’s mobile app (not available on web browsers currently)
- Camera access for capturing passport details and personal data collection by Persona
- Data sharing with LinkedIn, including name, type of ID document submitted, and issuer details, subject to user permission
LinkedIn’s partnership with Persona enables UAE members to enhance trust and authenticity within the platform through optional identity verification, promoting a safe and reliable professional networking environment.
