The recently announced 30km Blue Line extension of the Dubai Metro promises reduced travel times and better connectivity between neighborhoods and growth areas. It offers commuters breathtaking views while traversing the city.

Iconic Viaduct and Dubai Creek Connection:

Scheduled for completion by 2029, the Blue Line will introduce trains crossing the historic Dubai Creek along a 1,300-meter viaduct, creating an elevated railway connecting Al Jaddaf, Dubai Festival City, and Dubai Creek Harbour.

As a crucial integration point between the existing Red and Green Lines, the Blue Line aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, aiming to establish a ’20-minute city’ where essential services are reachable within a short commute time.

Station Details and Interchange Points:

Featuring 14 stations, including nine elevated and five underground stations, the Blue Line boasts an expansive interchange station within the metro network in International City, accommodating approximately 350,000 passengers daily.

Key interchange points include Creek Station, Centrepoint Station, and Dubai International City Station 1.

Distinctive Architecture and Routes:

Highlighted by an iconic 8,800-square meter station at Dubai Creek Harbour, designed by Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill, the Blue Line’s routes span two main directions covering Al Jaddaf, Dubai Festival City, Dubai Creek Harbour, Ras Al Khor, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Academic City, Mirdif, Al Warqaa, and more.

Passenger Capacity and Future Projections:

Anticipating a capacity of 56,000 passengers per hour in both directions with a service interval of 1.5 minutes, the Blue Line aims to cater to the needs of approximately 200,000 daily passengers by 2030, notably increasing to 320,000 passengers daily by 2040, serving as a vital transportation backbone for Dubai’s growing population and university students from Academic City.
