The death toll from the tragic bomb blasts in Kalamassery, Kerala, has tragically increased to six, as a 24-year-old man, identified as Praveen, passed away on Friday due to severe burn injuries sustained in the explosions.
Praveen, hailing from Malayattoor, had been undergoing critical treatment for burns at a private hospital. His mother, Sally, and sister, Libina, had earlier succumbed to injuries from the blast.
Legal Proceedings and Accused:
The Kerala Court remanded Dominic Martin, a suspect linked to the Kochi bomb blasts, to judicial custody until November 29.
Martin, accused in connection with the explosions, refused legal assistance during court appearances despite the option being presented to him by the court.
Investigation and Police Actions:
As part of their investigation, authorities took Dominic Martin to his residence in Athani, Ernakulam, to reconstruct the incident’s sequence, gathering additional evidence related to the multiple explosions.
The Kerala Police determined that the blasts were triggered by a remote-controlled Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
Arrest and Confession:
Kochi Police apprehended Martin after the blasts following a self-made confession video posted on Facebook, where he claimed responsibility for the explosions at the International Convention Centre in Kalamassery.
The targeted gathering included over 2,000 followers of Jehovah’s Witnesses, a Christian sect, assembled for a prayer meeting earlier in the month.
