As tropical cyclone Tej gains strength in the Arabian Sea, the UAE Embassy in Muscat has warned its citizens residing in Oman.

Emirati nationals have been urged to exercise caution in the face of the impending unstable weather conditions.

Cyclone Tej’s Approach to Oman:

Cyclone Tej is forecasted to intensify into a ‘cyclonic storm’ and make landfall in Oman by Sunday.

The country’s state news agency revealed that, as a precautionary measure, Salalah port would be temporarily closed starting from 5 pm (local time) on Sunday due to the anticipated impact of Cyclone Tej.

UAE’s Weather Disturbance:

The UAE National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) issued an alert on Friday, noting the formation of a tropical depression in the southern Arabian Sea, expected to transform into a tropical storm.

While the weather disturbance is not set to directly impact the UAE, the Met department clarified that the eastward and southward movement of moisture from the Arabian Sea will lead to the appearance of cumulus clouds and bring rain to some parts of the UAE until Tuesday, October 24.

Emiratis are advised to stay informed and prepared for localized rainfall during this period.
