Naveen-ul-Haq Shares a Great Gesture Towards Virat and Indian Fans
The Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi witnessed an enthusiastic crowd that rallied behind pacer Naveen-ul-Haq and the Afghanistan cricket team as they achieved a remarkable 69-run victory against reigning champions England in a World Cup match.
The spectators cheered when Naveen took the pivotal wicket of Jos Buttler, prompting Afghanistan to express gratitude on social media for the overwhelming support they received from Indian cricket fans.
Crowd’s Mixed Reception for Naveen:
Naveen had previously faced some boos from the crowd during Afghanistan’s match against India at the same venue.
In a commendable gesture, India’s Virat Kohli, who was at the non-striker’s end during that match, requested the fans to stop booing Naveen, demonstrating sportsmanship and respect for the game.
Notably, Virat Kohli and Naveen have had a history of conflict. A confrontation between the two players occurred during an Indian Premier League (IPL) game earlier this year between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), resulting in a heated exchange of words between the teams.
However, during the India-Afghanistan match, they put their past behind them, exchanged handshakes, and patted each other on the back.
Historic Victory for Afghanistan:
Naveen’s outstanding performance contributed to Afghanistan’s historic win against England, ending their 14-game, eight-year-long World Cup losing streak.
This was only Afghanistan’s second World Cup victory, the first being against Scotland in 2015. Afghanistan’s joy was palpable as they celebrated their significant achievement.
Naveen-ul-Haq expressed his gratitude on social media, particularly thanking India and Virat Kohli fans for their unwavering love and support. He referred to the match against England as “most memorable.”
Mujeeb Ur Rahman’s Dedication:
Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman dedicated his team’s remarkable win against England to the victims of recent earthquakes that struck Afghanistan.
He recognized the earthquake’s impact on the people back home and dedicated his award to them. Mujeeb was named Player of the Match for his all-round performance, contributing 28 runs with the bat and taking three crucial wickets to help Afghanistan secure the victory.
Mujeeb’s contributions played a significant role in Afghanistan’s success, and the win was hailed as a proud moment for the entire nation and the team.
Afghanistan’s performance in beating the former champions was recognized as a testament to their skills in both batting and bowling.
