Ras Al Khaimah: Jebel Jais, one of the UAE’s most iconic mountain destinations, has temporarily closed all operations to carry out extensive safety assessments following severe weather conditions that affected the region. This decision prioritizes visitor safety and allows specialist teams to perform thorough inspections across the mountain.
The recent rainfall between December 17 and 19 has created standing water in certain areas, prompting targeted maintenance. Roads and mountain paths are currently under review to meet the strict safety standards Jebel Jais is known for.
Activities Temporarily Suspended
All activities at Jebel Jais will remain on hold until further notice. This includes:
- Jais Flight Zipline
- 1484 by Puro
- Red Rock BBQ
- Via Ferrata
- Bear Grylls Explorers Camp
- Yoga sessions at Jais Viewing Deck Park
These suspensions allow teams to address potential hazards and ensure that every activity is safe for visitors before reopening.
Visitor Advisory and Caution
While certain hiking and climbing areas remain open, visitors are advised to exercise caution due to slippery paths and potential shifting rocks caused by recent rainfall. Camping in wadis is discouraged until conditions improve. Specialized teams are assessing each area, ensuring that outdoor enthusiasts can continue to enjoy the mountain safely.

Reopening of Jebel Jais will follow a phased approach, with each area thoroughly inspected and enhanced. Although winter is typically the peak season for mountain activities, the temporary closure reflects the destination’s commitment to visitor wellbeing.
