Sharjah Ruler Unveils Hanging Gardens of Kalba, a New Tourism Destination

In a bid to bolster its tourism sector, Sharjah has introduced the much-anticipated Hanging Gardens of Kalba, officially opened by Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah, during a ceremony on Friday. This latest attraction, located on the Kalba-Sharjah road, marks a significant addition to the emirate’s array of leisure destinations.

Spanning an impressive area of 1.6 million square feet, the Hanging Gardens boast over 100,000 trees, providing visitors with a serene natural environment to explore. Sheikh Dr Sultan personally toured the gardens, taking in the sights and sounds, and even enjoyed a musical performance by local schoolchildren.

The centerpiece of the Hanging Gardens is a spacious restaurant capable of accommodating up to 215 guests, offering a picturesque dining experience amidst the lush greenery. Additionally, the gardens feature dedicated recreational areas for children, segmented according to age groups, ensuring that families can enjoy quality time together.

For adventure seekers, the gardens offer hiking paths of varying difficulty levels, providing stunning views of agricultural landscapes, cascading waterfalls, and vibrant flora. A highlight of the experience is the 820-meter-long excursion train track, accommodating up to 55 passengers, offering a leisurely ride through the park’s scenic attractions.

In terms of amenities, the Hanging Gardens of Kalba leave no stone unturned. The park includes a 760-meter running track for fitness enthusiasts, as well as ample parking space with 262 designated spots for visitors’ convenience.

The development of the Hanging Gardens is part of a broader initiative announced in 2022 to bolster tourism, culture, and economic growth in Kalba. By transforming the area into a premier tourist destination, authorities aim to attract visitors from across the region and beyond, further cementing Sharjah’s reputation as a leading hub for leisure and recreation.

This unveiling comes amid a landmark budget approval for Sharjah, with Sheikh Dr Sultan approving a record-breaking budget of Dh40.83 billion ($11.12 billion) for 2024. This substantial investment underscores the emirate’s commitment to fostering infrastructure development, scientific innovation, and economic diversification, positioning Sharjah as a dynamic and forward-thinking global destination.

As the Hanging Gardens of Kalba beckon tourists and locals alike to immerse themselves in nature’s splendor, Sharjah continues to set new standards in tourism excellence, promising unforgettable experiences for all who visit.
